Medivet

Medivet EVP and Employer Brand

We started working with Medivet in 2018. In an industry where access to high-quality talent is the critical factor in business success or failure, there was a lot to do if they were to compete (let alone win), and with the new HRD in place, we set off on the journey of change. Profile and reputation were both extremely low. Vet time to hire was 150 days plus, the number of experienced vet hires in 2017 was just 150 and graduates less than 10. Agency spend alongside unwanted attrition was not under control, and early attrition was a destabilising factor across the national network. For a business with ambitious growth plans, it was time to take decisive action.

We recognised what it would take to truly increase quality, decrease costs and ensure a legacy of improvement going forwards. We started with an extensive discovery exercise from which we built a distinct, authentic and compelling EVP and Employer Brand – along with the essential deliverables to build our attraction and candidate experience. With the platform in place, we developed a strategy around building reputation, differentiating the offer and executing a plan to ensure a consistent stream of high-quality vets, graduates, nurses and support staff from the UK market.

The UK couldn’t fulfil hiring needs on its own, so through more research, we developed an identity and profile to make Medivet the magnet brand for suitably qualified candidates from across Europe and South Africa.

Medivet aren’t just competing. They now have a preeminent position in the UK talent market and a growing presence beyond. Vet time to hire was 30 days in 2021 (from 150 in 2018), the number of vet hires will be over 800 in 2022 (from 150) and graduates c100 from less than 10. Recruitment agency spend is less than a third of 2018 levels, and, critically, early attrition has reduced to almost zero as we are hiring the right quality and fit. There’s still much to do on the journey, but Medivet can now approach those challenges confidently and from a position of strength.
